The Reverend Father Kevin Fete was born on October 7, 1957 to James and Dorothy (Perretta) Fete. He was the third of the couples’ four children. Kevin attended St. Joan of Arc Elementary School, Perry High School, St. Gregory Seminary (Cincinnati), and the Moreau Seminary at the University of Notre Dame. He was ordained on March 30, 1985, by the Most Reverend James W. Malone, Bishop of Youngstown. Following ordination he served as associate pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary (Austintown), St. Joseph (Ashtabula), St. Edward (Youngstown), and St. Paul (North Canton). He was named Pastor of Little Flower Parish (Middlebranch) in 1996 and administrator of St. Peter of the Fields (Rootstown) on July 15, 2005. Father Fete was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2006 and went to his eternal rest just six-weeks later on Sunday, July 23, 2006. Father spent his last moments on earth ensuring that his numerous endeavors, both personal and pastoral were left in good order. He left this world with a quiet peace and an understanding that eternal reward awaited him.
Throughout his life, Father Fete showed a keen interest in both automobiles and photography. He may well have been the only priest who simultaneously owned a Saab 9-3, a 500 series Mercedes, and a Porsche! Over time he slowly acquired an incredible camera collection. He was adept at numerous types of photography but favored the large format black & white as featured in this book. His development as a photographer was often times torturous (especially for his family!) since multiple takes and long-held poses were the order of the day. His patience in this area eventually paid big dividends and his numerous large format prints are highly sought after. We trust this book will provide a glimpse at the talent of a man who was both a truly gifted photographer and an incredibly spiritual priest.
